"Turning Pro" by Steven Pressfield
More kick-in-the-butt motivation from the author of "The War of Art."
I like Steven Pressfield. His book The War of Art is possibly the greatest motivational book for artists, writers, and entrepreneurs I’ve ever read. In chapters that are rarely more than a page long, he writes plainly about what keeps us from doing the work we know in our hearts and bones we need to do. And then shows us how to get to work doing it.
Turning Pro is follow-up to The War of Art. Same format. Same kind of advice. Pressfield’s books belong on the same bookshelf as Austin Kleon’s trilogy, Steal Like an Artist, Show Your Work!, and Keep Going or Paul Arden’s books It’s Not How Good You Are, It’s How Good You Want to Be, and Whatever You Think Think the Opposite. If these kind of books inspire and motivate you, you’ll love Pressfield. But by all means, start with The War of Art.
READ IT IF: You’re read (and re-read) The War of Art and want to mix things up.
